Our aim is to help readers make better-prepared decisions while being clear about what StepOut knows, which sources support a factual statement, and which decisions belong to an organiser, government authority, university, scholarship body or other third party.
Travel and immigration information can change quickly. No editorial process can make a changing rule permanent, so readers should use the current official source for the final decision that affects an application, booking or journey.
Our editorial principles
- People first: we publish for travellers, applicants and families who need practical answers, not simply to create pages for search traffic.
- Accuracy before certainty: when a fact cannot be supported, we prefer cautious wording or remove the claim.
- Useful context: we try to explain what a rule means for planning rather than merely repeating an official page.
- No invented outcomes: we do not intentionally publish fabricated approval rates, client counts, ratings, credentials, testimonials, partnerships or guarantees.
- Clear responsibility: published guides should identify the author or responsible editorial source where readers would reasonably expect one.
How we research
For factual requirements we give priority to the source that is responsible for the rule or event. Depending on the subject, that can include government immigration portals, embassies or consulates, official event organisers and venues, universities, scholarship bodies, regulators, transport authorities and other primary sources.
Secondary sources can help with context, but they should not override a current primary source on matters such as eligibility, fees, deadlines, visa conditions, event dates or permitted activities. A link to an external website does not mean StepOut endorses every statement or service on that website.
Facts, interpretation and practical guidance
We distinguish between a factual statement and StepOut’s practical explanation. For example, an organiser may set an event date while StepOut explains how that date affects hotel nights or transport planning. The first statement should be checkable against the organiser; the second is planning guidance.
We do not present general information as individual legal or immigration advice. Visa issuance, admission, scholarship selection, border entry and event access are decided by the responsible authority or organisation, not by StepOut Travel.
Time-sensitive information
Where a guide relies on information that can change, we may show a fact-checked or updated date and link to the official source. Readers should still recheck the responsible source shortly before paying, applying or travelling.
We change an updated date when a meaningful factual or editorial revision has been made. We do not change dates merely to make old content appear fresh.
Authors and accountability
Bylines and author information should be accurate. We do not invent qualifications, professional affiliations, first-hand experience or specialist credentials. If a guide has been professionally reviewed, that description should be used only when the reviewer and the basis of the review can genuinely be identified.
Technology and AI-assisted workflows
Technology, including automated or AI-assisted tools, may help with research organisation, drafting, formatting, quality checks or publishing workflows. Such tools are not treated as authorities or evidence.
