Fact-checked: 8 September 2026. Recheck the organiser, venue and UAE government pages before booking because tickets, programmes and entry arrangements can change.
GITEX GLOBAL 2026 is scheduled for 7–11 December, but the programme is split across two venues. The organiser lists the GITEX Summit for Monday 7 December at Dubai World Trade Centre and the GITEX GLOBAL Expo for Tuesday 8 to Friday 11 December at Expo City Dubai. That split matters when you choose a ticket, hotel nights, transport and meeting dates.
A useful GITEX trip needs a narrower purpose than “see new technology.” Decide whether your priority is finding vendors, meeting investors, researching a market, comparing products, seeking partnerships or learning about a particular field. The event is too large for a general intention to guide five busy days.
Check what your access actually includes
Use the official ticket page and read the access conditions attached to the pass you are considering. Confirm the valid dates, conference or exhibition access, refund or transfer rules and whether any programme requires a separate application. A registration-interest form is not necessarily an admission ticket.
Keep confirmation in the same name used for travel documents. If a company pays, agree internally who owns the registration account and who receives organiser messages. Avoid buying access through an unverified seller or sending card details in response to a social-media message.
Build a one-sentence business objective
Try to finish this sentence: “By the end of GITEX, we need enough information to decide whether…” The answer could concern a software platform, distribution relationship, investment conversation or technical strategy. A clear objective helps you decline attractive sessions that do not serve the trip.
Turn the objective into five to ten questions. For a vendor comparison, those questions might cover integration, data location, security responsibilities, implementation time, support, pricing units and exit terms. For investment or partnership conversations, prepare an accurate short description of the company and the specific next step you are seeking.
Plan meetings around the venue, not just the clock
Do not treat the 2026 event as a single-venue trip. If you are attending the 7 December Summit as well as the 8–11 December Expo, map the journey to both Dubai World Trade Centre and Expo City Dubai before choosing a hotel. If you are attending only the Expo, optimise for Expo City rather than automatically booking around the event’s earlier venue. December is a busy visitor period in Dubai, making cancellation terms and realistic transport time important.
Group appointments by hall or event area when the floor plan becomes available. Leave time between meetings for walking, queues and notes. If a conversation matters commercially, do not stack another appointment immediately after it.
Prepare a small, accurate meeting kit
Bring the information another person needs to understand your role and organisation: a concise profile, current website, contact route and relevant product or project details. Do not use inflated user numbers, partnerships or client logos. If a figure is confidential or unverified, leave it out.
Digital contact exchange is convenient, but keep a backup method. Label every contact with the reason you met and the promised next step. A collection of scanned badges without context becomes almost useless after several event days.
Budget beyond the event ticket
Include flights, UAE entry costs where applicable, accommodation, airport and venue transport, meals, mobile connectivity, insurance, business materials and a contingency. Check whether local taxes, deposits or service charges are included in the hotel price.
If the employer pays, set the reimbursement and card-use rules before departure. Keep receipts without storing unnecessary passport or card images beside them. A business trip can still fail operationally when the traveller has no suitable payment backup.
Use the correct UAE entry information
UAE entry treatment depends on nationality and circumstances. Start with the UAE government portal and the immigration authority relevant to the route. An event ticket does not grant entry, and a hotel or airline arrangement should not be treated as universal immigration advice.
If applying in advance, make the event dates, accommodation, employer or business evidence and funding agree. Do not describe work activity as passive attendance when the actual plan involves employment or services that require different permission.
Protect commercial and personal information
Large events attract genuine opportunities and aggressive lead collection. Ask who is receiving your details before scanning a code, and do not expose confidential documents simply to continue a conversation. Use device locks and avoid conducting sensitive financial activity over public networks.
Watch for fake ticket pages, speaker invitations and meeting requests that move quickly toward payment or credentials. Verify requests through the organiser or company’s known website rather than replying through the original message alone.
Make follow-up part of the travel plan
Reserve time each evening to classify contacts and record decisions. Within two working days of returning, send the agreed document, meeting request or answer. A specific follow-up—referring to the product, question and next action—is more useful than a generic “great to connect.”
Finally, compare the trip with the original objective. Record what was learned, which assumptions changed, what needs further verification and whether another meeting is justified. Attendance is an expense; the decisions it improves are the return.
